A Charleston bike ride

Day In.

Happy 2012! Stuart said to me yesterday..."Hey, we got married last year!". He's so clever, that one :)

Anyways, Stuart and I headed to Charleston for New Years to see his parents. We had a great weekend...even our baby nephew H made an appearance! It has been so much fun to watch him grow.

Stu gave me my first road bike for Christmas! And, he got it in my favorite colors...yellow and grey. He knows me so well!

Our bikes live in our dining room...duh, that's the perfect place for them....

Gulp...I'm excited but have never been really confident riding a bike. Luckily, he has a lot of patience with me...Some of the things I say to Stuart while riding go a little something like this:

"I can't get my foot in the pedal!" (this happens a lot...and I don't even have those clip on shoes)
"Which gear do I change to for a hill?"
"Which gear do I change to for downhill?"
"I can't slow down!"
"A lower gear means nothing to me...tell me which direction to change the gear!"

hehe I'm a beginner :)

Anyways, we took our bikes to Charleston and rode across the Cooper River bridge from Mount Pleasant into downtown Charleston and back! All in all, it was about 18 miles. And, I survived :)

Here we are at the top of the Cooper River Bridge.

Bike shorts are super attractive :)

Happy New Year! Here's to trying something new!

Day Out.

  1. Fun! Z & I loved biking along the lake in Chicago, especially since there were no hills. Here in Boulder I always have to ask which gear to change to, too!
