Adventures in Pressure Washing

Greetings, avid readers! This blog is not going to be the most exciting for the majority of people, but as my 30th birthday is approaching, I've come to accept that I'm getting older. I told my friend who just purchased a house that he will realize he is old now, because he will be excited about getting things like rakes for Christmas or his birthday.  I realized this has never been more true for me, when I spent all day on a Saturday pressure washing our driveway and my joy in this subtle difference this created.

I must first thank my dad for letting me borrow his pressure washer. It's a Clean Force 1800 PSI. For my driveway, I used the 15 degree nozzle to really get it clean, and followed up with the 40 degree nozzle to get off all the excess.  Without further ado, here is a picture of the magical machine:

In the picture, you may have noticed a bottle to the left.  This is "Krud Kutter", which is supposed to help, but started without it and realized it wasn't needed for this job.

I knew our driveway was dirty, but I had no idea how dirty until I started washing it.

This is about when I went inside to get Anna to come look at how awesome it was.  She couldn't tell where I had cleaned. :(

She thought that part of the driveway was wet, and not dirty. Because of this, I thought of you, faithful blog readers, and took a picture to prove that it wasn't just that part of the driveway was wet.  It was also to let out some of my inner child.

Just for the record, this was not a quick process.  I started at about 11:00 AM, took a break for lunch at 1:00 PM, started back about 1:30 PM, and finished at 4:00 PM.

Dog Cookies

Day In.

It was time to make a treat for my sweet puppy. I wanted to share a super easy recipe for dogs! They love them.

Bonnie and Angus Cookies (aka Peanut Butter Dog Cookies)
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup whole milk
1 cup peanut butter
1 tsp. baking powder

Roll into balls. Flatten on a pan with a fork. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes.

I chose to make mine in the shape of a lab :)

Welcome to the Gallery.

As you may remember, a while ago I (Stuart) made a piece of art out of pallet wood. Since then, Anna hosted small group at our house.  One of the girls mentioned she really liked it and asked Anna where she got it.  Her husband, who is also a minister at our church, found out and asked if I could make one for his wife for Christmas. So I did.

Mine is on the right, the new one is on the left.

Then a few of our friends made some requests for their parents for Christmas. It started off with another state...

Then it got a little different.  Someone from work asked for a "Fast P".

Then a reference from the church office came in. People say word of mouth advertising is where it's at...who am I to argue.

Apparently, people like these things.  I already have two more orders pending - Indiana and a Tennessee. Once they are complete, I'll post those here for your viewing pleasure. 

And in related news, Anna, who doubles as my manager, signed me up for an Arts and Crafts festival at our church.  Hopefully, this will generate more interest.  But all orders will have to go through Anna because I think it could ruin my reputation as an artist if I show interest in selling them for CA$H MONEY.

We recently took our annual McKaskle family vacation to see Braves Spring Training and Disney. As always, it was a lot of fun!

Girl's Night

Day In.

My sister and I try to do something together on Wednesday nights, since the guys do trivia. We opted to dine in with food from our favorite Mexican place (Verde) and do some cooking.

Rebecca made some delicious and healthy granola with peanut butter. Yum!

And because we never follow a recipe, she added dried cranberries and pecans.

I made more of that strawberry jam that I love. Plus, we were out of jam from the store so I thought it would be a nice treat on Stuart's PB+J sandwiches.

Wine is a must-have at Girls Night.

Note: I keep my strawberries in bigger pieces, so it's more of a preserves, I would say.

Also, since we both have puppies, they enjoyed some time together....which included:

-Lady being the instigator of all trouble.

-Lady "falling" into our pond.

-Lady getting dirty...and smelling really bad.

-Cotton being the perfect dog (hehe).

...and ended with both dogs getting a much needed bath.

There's a stinky shoe of Stuart's for everyone!
